Claude as Editorial Spine
The AI Intelligence Brief is not written by AI. It is not written without AI. Claude is an editorial partner — a thinking tool that accelerates research, drafting, and structural reasoning, reviewed line by line by Andy before anything publishes.
What Claude does in the Brief workflow
Research synthesis — Claude processes raw sources (earnings calls, release notes, policy documents, funding announcements) and surfaces the strategic signal. Andy selects which signals matter.
Draft generation — Claude produces first drafts of sections. Andy rewrites for voice, sharpens the analysis, and cuts anything generic.
Structural reasoning — Claude proposes section ordering, identifies missing angles, and stress-tests arguments. Andy makes the editorial calls.
What Claude does not do
Claude does not decide what to cover. Claude does not generate opinions Andy hasn't validated. Claude does not access or train on submitted plans. Claude does not write the final published text — Andy does.
Why this matters
Most AI newsletters either hide their AI usage (dishonest) or lean into "written by AI" as a feature (lazy). We do neither. Claude is a tool that makes the Brief better than Andy could produce alone, and Andy is the editor who makes it better than Claude could produce alone. The combination is the product.
This is also why the Brief has a Cognitive Debt advantage — readers know the analysis has been through a human filter with decades of commercial judgement, augmented by a model with comprehensive recall. Neither alone would be as trustworthy.
